Background & Additional Requests

1. Background to feature landmarks in Singapore: Marina Bay Sands, the Merlion, Changi Control Tower, Orchids, Hawker Stalls, featuring Satay/Fried Rice/Roast Meat etc. I really love the caricature done for a couple in front of the Taj Mahal the detail is really beautiful. Can I request to have something similar done with as little white background as possible. The background can also have an overarching garden theme as long as it features some of the Singapore landmarks mentioned.
2. Request to have a full bodied caricature in a standing position donning a black/grey suit with red tie holding on to a cabin trolley bag. With a speech bubble containing the words “HR is in a sweet spot“, “Talent, Talent, Talent“, “… approved, reluctantly!” and “HR Transformation – we are ahead of the game!” (“” are not required and for clarity purposes only)
3. Company Logo to be featured in drawing, please see my company logo at the foot of this email, understand that requests for specific logos cost an additional $50. 
4. Text: please have the text Thank you Conrad, we’ll miss you dearly from the Singapore Team. It can be framed in the drawing up to your creativity

Farewell gift for Senior Management

 

This 20pax caricature  is a farewell gift to one of our client ‘s Senior Management. The were depicted in their office clothes such as shirt and tie. The Last row which consist of 9 individual holding up 9 different flags while for the front row which consist of 10 person, one of them is holding a logo and the other  holding a compass and the middle person is holding a “thank you” banner for the recipient. The recipient will be holding on to 2 flags with the attached wordings wearing shirt and tie. As for the background, we included the skyline of singapore, MBS, merlion and our client office building with company logo.

Interestingly humorous wedding couple caricature done by Kamal. They wanted something which is funny yet not overly-exaggerated of how they first met each other.

This is not an astronout but someone who works in a clean room that manufacture semiconductor. Its a gift that for a sepecial occassion by the association. Must be a a gift to a foreigner because of the request to include the Merlion and Singapore skyline to symbolise Singapore.

A farewell gift for boss who is to be posted to Thailand. He studies Chinese culture and love golfing so we drew him as master Q a popular Chinese comic character of the past.

Surprise Birthday Gift Caricature for a Busy Wife

We got this special request for a Wife’s Birthday surprise. It’s should be a crime to call it a client’s brief if it is this long. Anyway, it was a fun challenge and client understood the premium price for complexity. See if we got all his request in this one picture.

Hi, I would like to organise a caricature to be made of my wife.

 

Wife

• 34 years old, Chinese female (my wife)
• The smile needs to be exaggerated and large as her smile does engulf her whole face and her eyes become quite small when she laughs
• She often wears pretty dress in bright yellow or vintage style – see the photos of her for a dress as guidance
• She is generally very bubbly personality, talks in fast-paced, high-pitched way
• Her right hand should be stretched out to a baby’s pram handle.
• Her hair should have a fringe and a ponytail.
• She should be wear flip-flops. Under her right flip flop, she should be stubbing out a cigarette. Her left ankle should be bandaged as if injured
• There should be thought bubbles shown coming from her head where she is dreaming of sleeping.
• In her left hand should be a crumpled notepad with the words “Real Estate” and other lines that look a full page of notes

 

Son

• Our son Alexander should be featured lying in his pram, with his face to the front of the picture, and a pacifier in his mouth. He should look wide-eyed and expressionless. He has unusually large round eyes so that should be exaggerated.
• On the side of the pram, it should feature the name Eloise crossed out and the name Xander penciled in. The Eloise should look like its was professionally done, with the Xander name penciled in amateurs style using same style as crossout of the Eloise. The point is that we were expecting a daughter.
• His left hand should be holding a flag which says Kai-En Rocks (this is his Chinese name).
• Pram should be dark blue in colour
• His feet should be hanging out the opposite end of the pram, with his right arm handing over the edge of the pram too..

Me

• No need for actual caricature.
• Should be featured in the background as following behind Person A.
• He is meant to look slightly hunched, overloaded with shopping bags, dragging his feet a little.
• He should be made to look like he has donkey ears that are oversized for his head. His face should be featureless, just white. It is meant to represent me, 39 years old, Caucasian, 6ft tall, slim build.

 

Other

• On the far left hand side is a measuring post. It should measure up to 1.5 metres, but show 1.5metres clumsily crossed out and replaced with an amateurishly pencilled in 1.8 m.
• Nearby her left foot (the bandaged one) should lie a deflated rugby ball
• On the right handside of the picture is a fruit bowl which needs to be filled to overflowing with discarded shells of a fruit (like a mangosteen) that has been eaten, with shells falling about on the ground as well.
• Around the base of the street sign should be some small rocks. The wife trained as a geologist.
• At the base of the street sign should be a miniature Merlion poking its head out from behind the post.
• On the right hand side there are also some kitchen utensils and a chef’s hat as the wife is a trained chef.

 

 

Resort World Sentosa – Live Caricature Drawing

We were drawing caricatures every Thursday – Sunday afternoon for the month of October and November of 2010 at Resort World Sentosa.

Visitors to the resort complex which included Singapore’s first casino get free drawing. We were drawing both tourists as well as local visitors and were kept very busy drawing for 5 hours each day. It was a very popular entertainment.

The show is well managed as there are entertainment escorts assigned to our artists. They managed the queue and timing for short breaks. Our artists were dressed in our somewhat costume adding to the festive atmosphere alongside clown acts and stilt walkers and other mobile entertainment to give the entire area a good buzz. Our full-time artists Kamal, Ruoshi and Azhar took turns drawing for the two month contract.

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

A team of fifteen bankers from Citigroup wanted to have a caricature drawing of themselves for Christmas greetings. They requested for background of Singapore and Hong Kong skyline. They also wanted Christmas tree, their boss as Santa clause with a sleigh and reindeer… and Santarinas… and the rest becomes Elves helping out with the presents. 🙂 Tis the season to be Jolly – Merry Christmas! “Jingle bells, jingle bells, Jingle, all the way…”
